Media Advisory: Transition to High School Events
WHO: Duval County Public Schools’ middle school students and their parents/guardians at the following schools: Landmark, JEB Stuart, Lakeshore, Eugene Butler, Paxon and Northshore K-8.
WHAT:
- Transitioning to High School Event
Eighth-grade students from Landmark Middle and their parents/guardians are invited to receive assistance in the transition from middle to high school, as well as information about the various options available to them in high school and beyond.
Invited guests include representatives from Sandalwood and Terry Parker high school’s AVID, Early College and IB Programs, as well as representatives from the Magnet Programs office, the Bright Futures Scholarship Program and the Take Stock in Children Mentoring Program.
The evening will also feature performances by the Sandalwood Jazz Band, Chorus and ROTC Color Guard.
When & Where: Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. at Landmark Middle, 101 Kernan Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32225
- High School Showcase
Parents and students from JEB Stuart Middle, Lakeshore Middle, Eugene Butler Middle, Paxon Middle, and Northshore K-8 will participate in the third annual High School Showcase.
Several area magnet and feeder high schools will be in attendance to showcase special programs and resources available for families as they prepare for the transition into high school.
When & Where: Thursday, January 27, 2011, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the J.E.B. Stuart Middle Gymnasium, 4815 Wesconnett Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32210
