Media Advisory: DCPS' Spring Events

To help promote family and community involvement, the following Duval County Public Schools will be hosting these upcoming spring events:

Friday, March 18, 2011

  • Sabal Palm Elementary, 5 to 8 p.m., 1201 Kernan Blvd. N., Jacksonville, FL 32225. Join the school for their Spring Family Fun Night Luau. There will be a DJ and dancing in hula attire, plus Bruster’s ice cream, an art show, a huge silent auction and a one-night only Scholastic Book Fair. Dinner tickets are sold in advance for a Carrabba’s meal. Go to www.duvalschools.org/spe and follow the link for Family Fun Night for advance dinner ticket sales and more information.

  • Enterprise Learning Academy, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., 8085 Old Middleburg Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32222. The carnival is sponsored by IHOP and tickets will be available four/$1.00. There will be a bounce house, train ride, cup cake walk, a silent basket auction and so much more!

  • James Weldon Johnson Middle, 12 to 1:25 p.m., 1840 West 9th St., Jacksonville, FL 32209. Visit for Spring Decompression Day when the students and faculty host their talent show. This is a fun activity to relax and enjoy the talent of students, while having a good laugh at the teachers as they impersonate living legends.

  • Beauclerc Elementary, 3:15 to 7:30 p.m., 4555 Craven Rd. W., Jacksonville, FL 32257. The Beauclerc Safety Patrol, PTA and the Southside Businessmen’s Club are sponsoring Family Fun Night. Free events include carnival games, a cake walk, giant slide and bounce houses, and a teacher dunking booth. Snow cones, cotton candy and drinks will be sold at the event. Contact the school to pre-order chicken and hot dog dinners.

  • Twin Lakes Academy Elementary, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., 8000 Point Meadows Dr., Jacksonville, FL 32256. Join students and staff for a tremendous day of food, fun and games. Activities include bounce houses, raffles, a dunking booth, marble painting, a fishing pond, duck pond and more. There will be a DJ, and delicious food will be available for purchase from Chick-fil-A, Tony D's Pizza and Kilwin's. Wristbands for the day's activities can be purchased for $7 on the day of the event.

  • Brentwood Elementary, 9:15 to 10:30 a.m. & 1 to 2:30 p.m., 3750 Springfield Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32206. Join students for their Spring Poetry Festival surrounding the theme “Go Green.” The students have been working hard to save energy, recycle and conserve water, and this event will be a great way to celebrate keeping our planet beautiful.

  • Holiday Hill Elementary, 8:45 a.m., 6900 Altama Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32216. Join the students and staff for their Spring Multicultural Festival as they explore the great U.S. of A.!
