Duval County Public Schools’ Elementary Students Showcase Artwork at Florida State College at Jacksonville
Jacksonville, FL - More than 200 pieces of art
submitted by Duval County Public Schools’ elementary students will be showcased
at the annual Best of Elementary exhibition. The display opens at Florida State
College at Jacksonville - Kent Campus on Thursday, May 5, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
More than 150 two-dimensional pieces will be placed on the
walls of the school’s gallery. There will also be approximately
80 three-dimensional pieces on display. During the opening
ceremony special recognitions will be presented, including
administrative awards.
The works are part of the annual
Elementary Library Exhibits showcased in 15 city-wide public
libraries. More than 1,000 pieces were submitted for
consideration. The exhibit will run through May 19, in Gallery
E-112.
Duval County Public Schools operates 172 schools and
serves approximately 123,000 students. The school district is
committed to providing high quality educational opportunities
that will inspire all students to acquire and use the knowledge
and skills needed to succeed in a global economy, and culturally
diverse world.
