Media Advisory: Westview K-8 Earth Day Event
WHAT:
Westview K-8 will be celebrating their second annual Earth Day Event. Each grade level will focus on different projects that will teach them about the environment such as water conservation, life cycles and solar energy. The students will plant trees and other plants around the school.
Members of the community will also be showcasing environmental friendly booths to enhance student learning.
Westview K-8 opened in 2009, and is the first “green” school in Duval County. A green school is a building with a healthy environment that promotes learning while saving energy, resources and money. Westview K-8 has been awarded LEED Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council and verified by the Green Building Certification Institute.
