With the school year flying by, Duval County schools are celebrating the change of seasons into fall. Several Duval County public schools will be hosting fall festivals among other special events into November 2011.

• Thursday, October 27, 2011
o Central Riverside Elementary, 2555 Gilmore St., Jacksonville, FL 32204. Fall Festival, 5 to 7 p.m. – Enjoy a fun fall evening at the school dance and treat trail. Bounce your way through the bouncy house and finish the night with tasty treats and carnival games.
o Ortega Elementary, 4010 Baltic St., Jacksonville, FL 32210. Character Dress Up Day – Students can dress up as their favorite character. The character parade will march around the neighborhood.
Annual Fall Festival, 3 to 7 p.m. – The PTA-sponsored festival will provide food, fun, games and prizes. Games include Pin the Face on the Pumpkin, Stuff-A-Scarecrow and Pumpkin – Wagon Dragging.
o Stockton Elementary, 4827 Carlisle Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32210.
Fall Festival, 3 to 7 p.m. – Activities include dunk tanks, a cake walk, mechanical bull rides, pony rides and game booths. Fall treats will be served, including cotton candy, hamburgers and hot dogs.

o Fletcher Middle, 2000 North 3rd St., Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250. Costume Party, 4:30 to 6 p.m. – The Student Senators will host an after-school costume party for all students. You can receive $1 off
your ticket with the donation of a canned food item to Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministries (BEAM).
o LaVilla School of the Arts, 501 Davis St. N., Jacksonville, FL 32202. Costume Day – Wear your Halloween costume to school today!
First Annual Fun Fall Fair, 3:30 to 6 p.m. – Students, teachers, friends and family are invited to take part in games and activities behind the art rooms. The haunted house and giga ball rides will start the fun. Other activities include face painting, relay races, a costume contest, photo booth, carnival games and a concession stand. Entry is free and tickets for activities cost 25 cents. Each activity ranges from one to four tickets. All proceeds will benefit the Visual Arts Department.

Elementary, 3977 Herschel St., Jacksonville, FL 32205. Fall Festival, 5 to 8 p.m. – Activities range from a pony hay ride to face painting. Purchase four tickets for $1 and enjoy the duck pond, lollipop tree, sandy candy, tattoos, bounce house, cake walk, apple bobbing, animal walk and wheel of fortune. Kilwin’s Ice Cream truck will serve treats for $3 from 6 to 7 p.m.

Annual Fall Festival – The fall festival encourages community involvement. All are invited to support the children, PTO and safety patrols. The entire community of Baldwin, including students, siblings, parents, grandparents and neighbors will enjoy music, food and games in this family-fun environment.

30th School Anniversary – In celebration of the school’s 30th running year, a flag raising ceremony will be conducted for students, parents, teachers and staff to attend. A reception for the guests will be held in the media center, amidst memorabilia from the school’s last 30 years.

o Neptune Beach Elementary, 1515 Florida Blvd., Neptune Beach, FL 32266. Annual Fall Festival, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. – Enjoy carnival games, hay rides, cake walks, face painting, sand art, feather extensions, a photo booth, Wii Dance Revolution, Spacewalk slides and cotton candy. The festival will be catered by Milano’s Pizza, Chick-fil-A, Ohana’s Hawaiian Shaved Ice, TCBY and Cinotti’s Bakery. Tickets for the activities are five for $1 prior to the festival and four for $1 at the festival.

o Sabal Palm Elementary, 1201 Kernan Blvd. N., Jacksonville, FL 32225. Fall Festival, 6 to 9 p.m. – Jump on the Ferris wheel and enjoy the school-wide fall festival. Friends and family are welcome to join the students and participate in all the fall festivities. Activities include a bungee run, putt-putt golf, face painting, balloon animals, carnival games and the biggest inflatable slide in Jacksonville. Real Men Read Day – The annual event brings men from the community to read to all classes in pre-kindergarten through fifth-grade. Students are able to see the importance of reading, no matter what career path you choose. Participants will be served a Thanksgiving lunch, sponsored by teachers and staff.
