Media Advisory - 'Hopes and Dreams' Art Reception to Honor Duval County Student Winners
WHAT:
Several Duval County students will be recognized at a reception for their winning art pieces, which were selected for a display in the Cummer Museum of Arts and Gardens.
The 'Hopes and Dreams' project began through a partnership with Hope Africa, Inc. and Duval County Public Schools (DCPS). The project aimed to see how the dreams of Duval County students compare with those of children in Ghana.
Susan Gallo, director of education at the Cummer Museum, assisted DCPS in adding an art exhibit for these pieces, the Hopes and Dreams exhibit.
Several DCPS’ dignitaries will be present at the reception to honor the 24 selected Duval County student art pieces and the 15 winning art pieces from Ghana students. The art pieces reflect the students’ hopes and dreams for the future.
During the reception, 12 of the top Duval County student winners will receive awards of up to $100 with their art teachers being awarded a $100 Reddi Arts gift basket. The reception is open to the winning students and their families.
