Media Advisory - Brookview Elementary to Host "Buddy Drummers" Percussion Clinic and Concert
WHAT:
Brookview Elementary will host "Buddy Drummers," a percussion clinic and concert for teachers and students.
Brookview Elementary School was recently awarded a $1,500 grant from the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra Harmony Club, which is being used to invest in a set of African drums and to bring in professional musicians from a well-known, prestigious local drumming ensemble.
The professional musicians will teach the students about percussion techniques and help prepare selected third-, fourth- and fifth-grade students during the Percussion Clinic for the school-wide Percussion Concert.
The professional musicians will also perform several pieces and will hold a question and answer session.
The event demonstrates the benefits of music education to all involved. It provides an opportunity for the students to hear professional musicians perform in a comfortable, familiar environment.
