Media Advisory - Three Duval County Public Schools will Participate in International Walk to School Day

WHAT:
Students and staff at Enterprise Learning Academy, Julia Landon College Preparatory and Atlantic Beach Elementary will be walking for safety as they participate in International Walk to School Day and the Walk Safe programs.

  • Enterprise Learning Academy Elementary is partnering with Safe Kids Northeast Florida and Wolfson Children's Hospital. Volunteers will lead students to the school from the Oak Leaf Town Center. All students are encouraged to meet at this location and walk to school together. Students who ride buses will be dropped off before they get to school to safely walk with the rest of the student walkers.

    Later that morning students will gather outside for a helicopter landing.

    • 7:45 a.m.- Students walk to school, Oak Leaf Town Center, 9525 Cross Hill Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32222

    • 9:30 a.m.- Helicopter landing, Enterprise Learning Academy, 8085 Old Middleburg Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32222

  • Students at Julia Landon College Preparatory are encouraged to meet at one of the drop-off locations, join a bike train or join a walking bus with students from their neighborhood.

    • 7:30 a.m. - San Marco Square-Students walk to school

    • 7:05 a.m. - South of Hendricks Avenue Elementary, (duck pond)-Students walk to school

    • Anytime between 7 and 8 a.m. - Drop off points: Whatley Park, Preservation Hall, or the Library

  • Atlantic Beach Elementary will hold Walk-n-Roll to School Day. Students who live close to the school are encouraged to walk to school with their parents. For those students who live too far away to walk or ride their bike to school there is a meeting location at the tennis courts at Russell Park on Seminole Road. Volunteers will lead students around the park and to the school.

    • 8:10 a.m., Russell Park-Students walk to school
