Local writer Jane Wood made a special visit to Beauclerc Elementary on October 29 for the school’s first-quarter reading celebration.
Wood’s latest book, Trouble on the St. Johns River, was chosen as the October book of the month for grades three through five, while the kindergarteners through second graders read My Little Book of Manatees.
During her presentation, attended by all students who met their reading goals for the first nine weeks, Wood’s discussed manatees and the environment. She also had autographed copies of her books for the students to purchase.
At the end of the celebration, students who met their reading goals received a new alligator pin to add to their Beauclerc reading hats.
