A new Big Lots is opening in Arlington and to celebrate, the discount store donated $2,500 to its closest public school, Merrill Road Elementary.
On Friday, October 24, store manager Jim Roberts presented Principal Julie Hudson and some of her teachers with the donation.
Hudson said the much-needed funds will be used for ongoing staff development, student and staff incentives, and curriculum needs to assist all students in succeeding.
"We are very excited to have a new Big Lots in our community, and we appreciate the store's investment in education for our local children," said Hudson. "Big Lots is now officially a part of making Merrill Road Elementary 'A Good Place to Grow'."
