The BIG Show Comes to Andrew Robinson Elementary

Students from Andrew Robinson Elementary joined together on the evening of May 28 to entertain their fellow classmates, teachers, parents and community members when they participated in The Big Show 2008.

The Big Show displayed some of the science discoveries, as well as visual and performing art skills students have learned during the year.

Teacher Charlotte Cue, who is also an amateur magician, organized the show, which has become an annual event at the school.

To kick off the show, a group of students performed science experiments using magical illusions. Following the magic demonstration, the students led a balloon sculpting class. Students used balloons to sculpt animals, including dogs and giraffes, and then offered the balloon animals to audience members.

Next up was the Big Show Chorus, singing "Unwritten" and "He Still Loves Me" to a standing crowd, Principal Louise Hill and Assistant Principal Iviza Green followed up with magical illusions of their own.

The Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church Melodic Voices of Praise also shared a special performance for the audience during The Big Show. They surprised Andrew Robinson music teacher Mrs. Bryant, a member of the church, with two songs especially for her, as Mrs. Bryant will be retiring at the end of the year.

More magical illusions followed when teacher Charlotte Cue and her husband, Henry Cue, performed larger illusions, such as making a dove appear in an empty container and sliding a samurai sword through a box that contained Mrs. Cue.

To end the evening, the Andrew Robinson Dance Class performed two selections, and the Big Show Chorus sang their final song, "Lean on Me."
