Reading Comes Alive at Annie R. Morgan Storybook Parade

Annie R. Morgan Elementary students participated in a Storybook Character Parade and Book Celebration on October 31, bringing the characters they read about in their favorite books to life.

Students and teachers had the opportunity to pick their favorite book character and dress up as that character on Halloween. Students and faculty who dressed up participated in a parade around the school while the other students sat in the hallway and cheered them on.

The hallways were packed with students dressed as comic book heroes, sports stars, historical figures and other popular book characters. Many of them carried their favorite book with them during the parade.

“Our annual Storybook Character Parade provides students with the opportunity to enjoy reading in a fun and creative way,” said Principal Donna Frank, who was dressed as Ms. Frizzle, the teacher from The Magic School Bus. “Activities like this are another way to teach them the importance of reading.”
