Third, fourth and fifth graders at Central Riverside Elementary recently had the opportunity to participate in a PTA-sponsored after school class to learn about proper etiquette and manners. On May 27, to celebrate the completion of the class, students were treated to a limousine ride and dinner at Sterling’s Restaurant in Avondale.
PTA President Nicole Merritt-Lester and Vice President Joyce Couch created and led the eight-hour class, spanning four weeks.
"This class is meant to provide students with interpersonal skills, and help them make great lasting impressions as they interview and audition for secondary schools and future employment," said Nicole Merritt-Lester.
More than 20 students who had an interest in developing public speaking, interviewing, personal appearance, presentation, auditioning and entertaining skills participated in the class.
Professionals in their respective fields donated their time and talents to the students for the course, and Publix, Miller Electric and Winn Dixie sponsored the limousine ride and dinner.
