This year, Mt. Herman Exceptional Student Center kicked off the 2008/2009 school year with a "Get on the Bus" themed open house.
On Friday, September 5, parents were treated to student-led tours of classrooms, including the newly remodeled first-floor rooms. There were seven different “bus routes” taking parents on tours throughout the school, and parents could obtain tickets for as many tours as they wanted.
This is the first year Mt. Herman has offered student-led tours at its open house. Parents enjoyed seeing the new classrooms, and the student tour guides were excited to show off their school.
Construction on the first-floor classrooms began last December. Faculty and students were thrilled for the remolded rooms to open.
"Our new classrooms are beautiful," said teacher Carol Seger. "They provide our students with so much more space to learn and move around in."
Also in attendance during the two-hour long open house were several vendors providing attendees with information about community resources and agencies.
