Mike Peterson, Jacksonville Jaguars Linebacker, invited more than 80 Duval County Public Schools' students to a cookout at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium to celebrate being a "Just Read It Star of the Month."
During the 2007-2008 school year, the Mike Peterson Foundation’s "Just Read It Star of the Month" Program and Duval County Public Schools recognized these outstanding elementary and middle school students for reading improvement, and their commitment to reading and attendance.
Each month, 12 students – six elementary and six middle school, were named a Just Read It Star of the Month. These winners received personalized awards, and were treated to an exclusive visit with Peterson at the stadium.
The end of the year celebration brought together all of the 2007-2008 Star of the Month winners, and recognized them for their hard work, determination and commitment to reading. The event included fun interactive games, surprise guests and delicious food.
