To help with the fight against breast cancer, Lone Star Elementary hosted a school-wide fundraising drive (referred to as an M-Line) on October 23 to
aid women and men who cannot afford a mammogram.
Students, dressed in pink shirts and ribbons, had been collecting donations for days. They also hosted a booth at their Fall Festival.
Their efforts paid off, as the Lone Star students raised nearly $1,800 for breast cancer awareness!
First Coast News Anchor Jeannie Blaylock, whose station has partnered with the Susan G. Komen Foundation to help raise money for mammograms, filmed and interviewed the students as they gathered for the assembly.
After the assembly, students returned to their classrooms and celebrated their fundraising efforts with a pink treat of cookies and cupcakes donated by Winn-Dixie.
