In a continuing effort to beautify Annie R. Morgan Elementary, JEA and Greenscape of Jacksonville donated 30 trees to plant around the campus.
Greenscape of Jacksonville is a non-profit organization with nearly a 30-year history of improving the tree canopy of the city. Through a partnership with JEA, known as Green Releaf, Greenscape is able to provide free trees to schools, parks and neighborhood organizations to improve the urban forest.
On Saturday, November 8, members of the organization, as well as Annie R. Morgan faculty members and students, planted the trees. Teachers were asked to adopt a tree for their classroom, and students will be responsible for watering and taking care of it.
The event provided students with the opportunity to learn about the different varieties of trees planted, as well as the positive impact the trees have on our environment.
Third-grade teacher Meredith Preston helped organize this event.
"We greatly appreciate the generosity of Greenscape and JEA," said Preston. "This donation has left a lasting mark on our elementary school and our students."
