Dr. Michael Henry, principal of Landmark Middle School, was selected to receive the state-level 2008 Onyx Community Award for Education during a black-tie event in Orlando on March 29.
After winning the award for the Northeast Florida region in February, Dr. Henry advanced to the state competition where he was selected from among three other candidates from Gainesville, Orlando and Miami.
The Onyx Community Award was founded three years ago to recognize individuals who provide outstanding services to their local community. Awards are presented in the areas of music and performing arts, community service and education.
