Golf Fundraiser Raises $33,000 for Terry Parker High School

A golf outing fundraiser organized by the alumni of Terry Parker High School has raised $33,000 for the school’s athletics department. The proceeds will be used to purchase equipment for the school’s varsity football program.

The event, which was held on Saturday, August 16, at the Windsor Parke Country Club, concluded with a check presentation on the 50-yard line of Terry Parker’s football field. Parents, students, educators, alumni, and community and faith based leaders were all center field for the presentation.

"This is community engagement at its best," said Principal Scott Flowers. "We greatly appreciate the support our school and students have from our alumni and local community."

The golf outing was led by alumni Rick Allen and Keith Southwood, who solicited sponsorships from business and individuals. Corporate sponsorship ranged from $1,000 to $5,000, while individual sponsorships were $250 per hole.

Sponsors included Scott Ulm, owner of Heritage Design and Construction, Inc.; Rick Allen, event organizer and owner of Forte Security; Judge John D. Southwood (retired) of Jacksonville; Judge Hugh M. Fletcher of Jacksonville; Mark Schou, CPA of Cornelius, Schou, Leone & Matteson, LLC; and Elias Jewelers.

Alumni and community members could participate in the golf outing for the price of $100 per golfer. Alumni were also invited to a reunion party featuring a charity sports memorabilia auction at the Mudville Grill on the Friday night before the event.

Due to the success of the fundraiser, organizers plan to make the event an annual affair.
