Kindergarten students enrolled in the Dual Language program at San Jose Elementary celebrated Thanksgiving on November 25 by learning about the holiday and its traditions in both English and Spanish.
The Dual Language program is in its inaugural year at San Jose, with two kindergarten classes participating. The program integrates native English speakers with native Spanish speakers in the same class, developing first and second language proficiency which will make them bilingual, bi–literate and bicultural. Academic subjects are taught both in English and Spanish to all students.
The goal of the program is to provide educational opportunities to inspire students to acquire and use the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in a global economy and culturally diverse world. Dual Language will prepare these students to meet the educational and employment requirements of the future.
