On Saturday, February 2, the Winn-Dixie at the Lakewood Shopping Plaza celebrated a grand re-opening and donated some of its proceeds to a few local Duval County public schools. San Jose and Hendricks Avenue elementary schools,
duPont Middle School and Samuel W. Wolfson High School, each received a check for $2,500.
On behalf of their schools, the principals were on hand to accept the generous donation.
Amy Boyter, an employee at San Jose Elementary, said her school is going to be using the funds for student book celebrations.
Duval County Public Schools is thankful for Winn-Dixie's support of education.
