Chinese Culture Celebrated at World Language Program

More than 100 students from schools throughout Duval County joined together on Saturday, December 6, at Mandarin Oaks Elementary for the Chinese World Language Celebration Program.

During the event, students performed Chinese literature, conversational dialogue, and music and art demonstrations. Authentic Chinese food was provided by sponsors Bamboo Creek and First Primary Care & Family Medicine, Inc.

In attendance were students from Rufus Payne and Mandarin Oaks elementary, Ribault and Mandarin middle, Mandarin High School and Stanton College Preparatory School, as well as their family members, several community and business supporters, and the Jacksonville Chinese American Association.

“Duval County Public Schools is known by many outside of our community to offer a wonderful Chinese language program,” said Myrna Amos, executive director of academic programs. “This event provided Duval County residents with the opportunity to experience this exceptional educational program that is committed to our mission: providing high quality educational opportunities that will inspire all students to acquire and use the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in a global economy and a culturally diverse world.”
