Spotlight On Education

"Real" Treasures Discovered at Brentwood Elementary

Students at Brentwood Elementary School of the Arts recently showcased their talents to their school, family and community during a special performance of "Treasures Under the Sea."

The theme of the show was to remind viewers that they don't need money to be rich. Through drama, dance and music, students validated this message by sharing the many treasures and talents they have discovered at Brentwood.

The entire show, from the lighting, sound and technology, was run by students. The drama students, along with their teacher, Melissa Endich, created the set, props and costumes.

All of the students who performed were fourth and fifth graders, with the exception of the "pearl" dancers who are an all-girls rhythmic gymnastics team that meets after school. Some of the faculty even joined in during the performance, dancing to a version of Wipe Out.

The school plans to perform a musical in the spring.
