Spotlight On Education

Storyteller Delights Students and Parents at Oak Hill Elementary

Oak Hill Elementary had a special visitor on January 14 when popular storyteller Kaye Byrnes stopped by to entertain students and speak to parents.

Byrnes, who since 1996 has been sharing stories at schools, libraries, senior communities and many other venues, performed for students throughout the school.

Later that day, parents were invited to a special session where Byrnes spoke to them about reading, writing, as well as FCAT strategies and tips. She also shared her innovative way of telling stories so that family members could take it back with them and share the love of storytelling at home.

"I believe stories are a universal link between all people, generations and cultures," Byrnes said. "It is with great joy and pride that I devote my energy to the art of storytelling and sharing its gifts with my audience."

Byrnes will be visiting Fort Caroline and Sheffield elementary schools later this month.
