Mayor John Peyton visited fourth-grade teacher Chista Thomas's classroom at Sadie T. Tillis Elementary on February 23 as part of Teach For America Week, an annual event that unites hundreds of community and business leaders, government officials, authors, activists and celebrities in the cause of expanding educational opportunities.
During the week - scheduled this year for February 23-27 - leaders from all walks of life spent an hour of their time teaching children in corps members' classrooms across the country.
