Duval County History Fair Competition

In preparation for National World History Day, more than 200 Duval County Public Schools (DCPS) middle and high school students participated in the Duval County History Fair Competition on Saturday, March 21, at the Main Branch of the Jacksonville Public Library.

The students competing in the county fair had already been selected as first and second-place winners at their individual school’s history fair.

Student work was reviewed by a panel of judges in the following categories: written paper, documentary, Web site, exhibit and historical performance.

Students from James Weldon Johnson, Landon, Darnell-Cookman, Kirby-Smith, Kernan and Landmark middle schools, as well as high school students from Sandalwood, Robert E. Lee and Stanton, all placed high in the competition.

The top two students in the junior and senior divisions selected in each category will now compete in the Florida History Fair, sponsored by the Museum of Florida History, in May.
