R. L. Brown Student Receives Second Place in National Magnet Schools Poster Contest

Meaghan Saffle, a fourth-grade student at Richard L. Brown Elementary received second place in the 2009 Magnet Schools of America Poster Contest for the elementary school level.

The National Magnet Schools Poster Contest is a national competition sponsored by Magnet Schools of America as part of the celebration of National Magnet Schools Month. The contest is meant to highlight and promote magnet schools across the country, and this year's theme was "Magnet Schools Promote Multi-Cultural Understanding."

Principal Sabrina Session-Jones applauded Meaghan for her dedication to the poster contest.

"Meaghan came in early every morning and stayed after school for two weeks to work on the poster, which was a drawing of the world with a variety of multi-cultural children," she said. "Her poster represented the children of the world from many cultures, and it was beautifully done."

The school will be receiving an award at the Magnet Schools Awards luncheon in April.
