Fifty-one eighth-grade students at Oceanway Middle School have been selected from hundreds of students throughout the southeastern United States to have their essays published in an upcoming anthology.
The essay contest, sponsored by Creative Communication, required participants to write an essay of 250 words or less on the theme "What's Important To Me." The purpose of the contest is to recognize student writers.
Twenty-three students from Ms. Hart's class and 28 from Mrs. Vaine's will see their essays in print in this year's edition of the Celebrating What's Important to Me Anthology.
Creative Communication is devoted to the promotion of writing, teaching and appreciation of poetry and writing, and has sponsored writing contests for students across the United States and Canada since 1993.
