First- and fifth-grade students at West Jacksonville Elementary recently had the opportunity to meet Tony Pashos, offensive tackle #79 for the Jacksonville Jaguars, when he stopped by their school on April 9.
When Tony spoke to the fifth-graders, he encouraged them to do well in school, set goals and have a backup plan for their future besides being a professional athlete.
"It's important for you to study and work hard," he said. "If you work hard enough, you can be anything you want to be."
After spending time with the older students, Tony visited a first-grade class and read The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn.
"All of the students who had the opportunity to meet Tony are still talking about him. They are so excited he visited West Jacksonville Elementary," said Assistant Principal Charles McWhite.
