Spotlight On Education

Ribault and Raines Students Plan for the Future at College & Career Fair

More than 600 students from Jean Ribault and William M. Raines high schools recently attended the fifth annual College and Career Fair, hosted by the Ribault Alumni Group.

The event, held at Ribault High School, provided the junior and senior students with the opportunity to discuss their college and career plans with educational institutions, as well as businesses, organizations and the different branches of the military. The City of Jacksonville also conducted on-the-spot interviews for their summer jobs.

Students also had the opportunity to learn about the college admissions process, obtain financial aid information, and ask other general college and career related questions.

This year's participating vendors were: Bethune Cookman University; Florida A&M University; FCCJ- North campus; FCCJ – Aviation Center of Excellence; FCCJ – Cosmetology Program; Florida State University – CARE; Florida Technical College; ITT Tech; University of Central Florida; University of Florida; University of North Florida; Jacksonville Beauty Institute; Art Institute; American Red Cross- Nursing Program; City of Jacksonville; Duval County Public Schools; Environmental Protection; Jacksonville Association of Black Journalists; Jacksonville Commitment; Jacksonville Fire & Rescue Dept; Jacksonville Sherriff’s Office; National Black Coalition of Federal Aviation; FL National Guard; Organization of Black Airline Pilots; Reginald Luster, Attorney at Law; Urban League; U.S. Army; U.S. Marine Corp; U.S. Navy; and Worksource.
