Spotlight On Education

DCPS Celebrates Customer Service Week

On Monday, October 5, members of the Community and Family Engagement office greeted staff and visitors into the district administrative office with a warm hello, candy and customer service quotes which were strategically placed through the entire building.

During Customer Service Week, which was October 5-9, employees participated in fun-filled activities including "Creating Welcoming Work Environment" workshops facilitated by Terri Cicero, Supervisor of the Service Excellence Project, and an ice cream and cake social.

At the social, employees played games, including Guitar Hero, and GEM (Great Employee Moments) Awards were given to Estella Lukse, Barbara Jennings and April Bowers. GEM Awards are presented to employees who are recognized by their coworkers for delivering excellent customer service. There were more there 40 additional employees who received honorable mentions for the GEM Award.

Departments also had a chance to submit their best Customer Service slogans. The top three slogans were: First Place: Attendance and Student Support Services Shaping Lives to Shape Futures; Second Place: Human Resources Department We put the Human in Resources! and Third Place: Academic Services Always Striving for Excellence!
