Musicians Timmy and Susana Abell recently visited
Mt. Herman Exceptional Student Center for a special performance - singing and playing traditional American songs on a variety of instruments such as the hammered dulcimer, concertina, banjo and pennywhistle, while also incorporating a puppet story theatre.
The Abells' visit is part of a year-long arts program the school has implemented through ArtLife Productions. Founded by Karen Sadler in 1999, ArtLife designs and produces a wide range of interactive experiences in visual arts, dance, theater, music, film and literature for schools, business sponsors and community organizations.
With the help of ArtLife, the Mt. Herman students have also been working on art pieces that surround the theme of Maurice Sendak’s children’s picture book, Where the Wild Things Are.
