On December 2, more than 15 Citi executives from around the United States met in Jacksonville to perform community service projects at the Teacher Supply Depot.
“We have had a great business partnership with Citi for many years and have greatly benefited over the last year and a half from their ever growing commitment to and support of the depot,” said Chris Buckley, Teacher Supply Depot coordinator.
The executives worked on three projects, including the labeling of books, stripping wire from old Ethernet cables and creating holiday packages - all in preparation for the December opening of the depot.
The prepared packages included cutouts of snowflakes, snowmen and many other holiday-inspired creations for teachers to use as decorations and class projects.
“This entire project has been rewarding,” said Matt Jenkins, Citi’s business operations officer for North America consumer banking. “Citi has been a big contributor of the depot up to this point and we look forward to a continued relationship.”
On a monthly basis, more than 300 Duval County Public Schools’ (DCPS) teachers trek to the depot for a chance to get free classroom supplies.
The depot, in its 13th year of operation, is stocked with items donated by business and community partners. Donations are organized in several rooms, including a paper room, arts and crafts room, and rooms that have shelves full of office supplies.
