Duval County Public Schools' Superintendent Ed Pratt-Dannals and students from several Duval County schools, including Stanton College Preparatory School, Frank H. Peterson Academies of Technology and Kirby-Smith Middle School, had the opportunity to meet with high-school age students from Masan, South Korea when the Masan Committee of the Jacksonville Sister Cities Association hosted the students (JSCA).

A sister-cities relationship is when a U.S. city establishes a connection with an international city or community to promote peace, respect and cultural understanding, and to stimulate economic development.
At Kirby-Smith Middle, the Masan students visited the Challenger Learning Center to fly an international flight mission simulation with students from LaVilla School of the Arts.

When the students visited the Superintendent, they presented him with a new tie from their home country.

The JSCA, a not-for-profit, volunteer organization, has been involved in sister-cities relationships since 1967. Jacksonville has six sister cities: Bahia Blanca, Argentina; Murmansk, Russia; Masan, South Korea; Nantes, France; Yingkou, China; and Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
