Cedar Hills Elementary Receives $1,500 Walmart Grant

Recently, Cedar Hills Elementary was awarded a $1,500 Walmart Community Involvement grant. The grant, awarded to non-profits, is used to support community initiatives. Cedar Hills received the grant because of its partnership with the Walmart Store on Normandy Boulevard.

On January 4, Walmart store manager Michelle Caraballo presented Principal Laverne Hamilton with the $1,500 check.

"These funds were awarded to our school at the recommendation of a Walmart employee who thinks highly of our school and our work with students," said Principal Hamilton. "We are extremely grateful for their partnership and generosity."

Earlier this school year, the store provided 10 Cedar Hills teachers with $100 gift cards and roses in support of their school/business partnership.

In addition to their monetary contributions, Walmart provided all of the school's kindergarten and first-grade students with books.

The grant funds will be used for Saturday and after-school tutorial snacks, learning incentives, academic awards, field trips and resource materials.
