More than 40 young men from
First Coast High School are 'Men of Distinction' and recently gathered for a Dress for Success seminar.
Students participating in the Men of Distinction group seek to be the most diverse and distinguished body of students to positively impact their school’s culture and rapport among colleges, universities and the global community. Their mission is to participate in educational sessions and outreach projects to enhance technological and global intellect.
The Dress for Success seminar was the beginning of a series of informative sessions to ensure the young men are prepared for college and interviews.
Presenters for the seminar included Mr. Charles Cauten, vice president of finance for Bacardi; Ms. Clorinda Sanders, employment coordinator for the Jacksonville Urban League; and Mr. Tony Bellamy, Duval County Public Schools’ Executive Director of Turnaround Schools.
The panel of presenters spoke about proper interview attire and hygiene, and discussed how to best respond to questions during an interview. The Men of Distinction were actively engaged throughout the seminar, asking specific and contemplative questions. The panel was impressed with the young men who were dressed in shirt and tie, and exemplified proper posture.
Men of Distinction sponsors are Mr. Jermel Jones, Mr. Oday Mickel, Mr. Salathial Oats, Mr. Timothy Simmons and Mr. Leon White.
