The second annual Celebration of Chinese Language and Culture was held on Saturday, February 6, at Mandarin Oaks Elementary School. More than 150 people attended the event, including students studying Chinese at Rufus Payne and Mandarin Oaks elementary schools, Mandarin Middle School, Mandarin High School, Stanton College Preparatory School and The Bolles Preparatory School.
Presentations included songs, skits, musical instruments, dances and dialogues. Guests were treated to authentic Chinese cuisine from The Bamboo Creek Chinese Restaurant.
Dr. Yongan Wu, professor of Chinese at the University of North Florida, shared welcoming remarks about Chinese history and culture. Dr. Lian An, professor of economics at the University of North Florida and principal of the Chinese School provided an informative talk about the impressive Chinese program at her school.
