To celebrate the completion of their book of the month, Princess Grace by Mary Hoffman, students at
R.V. Daniels Elementary were treated to a "royal" assembly that helped students discover there is more to being a princess or prince than wearing a fancy outfit and crown.
Principal Kimberly Dennis and her staff invited a royal array of guests to read to the students, including current and former Mr. and Miss Andrew Jackson High School winners and contestants; Miss Raines first runner-up; Jean Ribault High School's homecoming queen; and the Kindness Queen, Diane Brown-Smith (also the physical education coach at R.V. Daniels).
Most of the teachers and students wore crowns or tiaras during the assembly. The visitors came dressed in their gowns or snazzy outfits, and explained to students why they were awarded their honor. While they enjoyed being "royalty," the speakers told the students it was most important to respect themselves, their teachers and others, and to also make good grades.
