Fort Caroline Elementary Students Learn Dangers of Bullying from Power of One

Many exciting things have been happening at Fort Caroline Elementary!

The Power of One organization performed a series of skits presented by actors who use boxes, colors and masks to vividly portray what bullying is, what can be done about it, and how every child has the power of one, the power to report bullying when they see it.

The skits allowed the actors to explain the roles in bullying; show vivid examples of different types of bullying such as physical, verbal, exclusion and cyber bullying; encourage students not to be bystanders; and emphasize the need for individual action to make the community a safer, better place. The highlight of the performance was when the Fort Caroline Elementary students looked into the Power of One box and saw their faces displayed in the mirror.

Students took the Power of One anti-bullying oath, which will be displayed in the lobby.

Fort Caroline Elementary is also focused on the FCAT throughout March. The week before the big test, students had fun wearing sunglasses on Monday, hats on Tuesday, flip flops on Wednesday and silly shirts on Thursday. The week ended with a pep rally with Terry Parker High School.

After FCAT, students in the third, fourth and fifth grade will celebrate with a dance, and there will be school-wide field days at the end of the month.

In April, the school will be having a Muffins and Mom's breakfast, and students will be celebrating Earth Day on the 22, ending with a science night that evening.
