Atlantic Beach Elementary recently got their students, parents and staff together for a Family Reading Night, and to get the students excited about the event during the school day, First Coast News Chief Meteorologist Tim Deegan stopped by to read a book.
This is the second year Atlantic Beach Elementary has hosted a Family Reading Night, and school staff say it’s a very exciting event for them and their students.
Last year, three local authors and Jacksonville Jaguars player Bryan Barker read to the families, and this year another three authors, one a parent of an Atlantic Beach Elementary student, had the opportunity to read their favorite books.
The school's PTA provided pizza and drinks, and each student who attended received a book donated by a local publishing company.
What can be better than a family night of fun, reading and food all to promote the love of reading?
