Spotlight On Education

JungleQuest Adventure for Abess Park Elementary Students

Students from Abess Park Elementary recently had the opportunity to go on a jungle adventure at JungleQuest, an indoor rock climbing and challenge course for kids that teaches self confidence, responsibility, problem solving and teamwork.

Students had a blast riding the zip lines, climbing rock walls, practicing their balance on rope bridges, and exploring tunnels and tree houses. Teachers and parent volunteers, as well as the JungleQuest staff, were all on hand to help the students as they went through the jungle-like obstacle course.

The first time Physical Education teacher Scott Adolf visited JungleQuest, he knew it would be a wonderful opportunity for the students he works with, those with disabilities and those diagnosed with an autistic spectrum disorder.

"Many of my students have never participated in activities like this, and JungleQuest provides them with an awesome opportunity for a hands-on and sensory learning experience," said Adolf. "You can see their eyes light up and their faces come alive with excitement as they try out these new activities."

The Abess Park students are part of the Communication and Social Skills Program.
