During a recent Florida SkillsUSA Region 2 meeting in Ocala, Joey Baker, a senior at Frank H. Peterson Academies of Technology, was elected the Region 2 Reporter.

Joey also served as the acting Region 2 student leader during the 2010 regional SkillsUSA contest held at the downtown campus of Florida State College at Jacksonville and the Hyatt Hotel.

In addition to his task as an officer for the Florida SkillsUSA, Joey is his class historian, SkillsUSA Chapter President, F.I.L.M. Club Vice President, and the student coordinator of the Silver Eagle Ambassadors, the school’s Magnet Recruitment Team.

Not only is Joey active in his school, he is also an active part of his community, acquiring more than 500 community service hours over the past four years.

Joey, a student in the school’s Television Broadcasting in the Communications Academy, plans to major in Broadcast Journalism when he graduates.

SkillsUSA is a national partnership of students, teachers, and industry, working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. SkillsUSA chapters help students who are preparing for careers in technical, skilled and service occupations to excel. National SkillsUSA has more than 300,000 students and instructors as members.
