Baldwin High Students Attend Black History Economic Seminar at U.S. Courthouse

Students from Baldwin Senior High were chosen to attend a seminar at the U.S. Courthouse in downtown Jacksonville for Black History Month.

The seminar, titled “The History of Black Economic Empowerment: Self-Sufficiency Through Education,” was designed to help promote the awareness of black entrepreneurs. The seminar had different guest speakers who spoke about being a better person.

“It was very motivational and very inspirational. I learned that even though the statistics can be against us, we can still beat the odds,” said senior Brittany Cooper.

One of the guest speakers, Dr. Jarik Conrad, gave the students a list of his top 10 characteristics of emotionally intelligent people. He spoke about being a better person all around, and even gave everyone an autographed copy of his latest book.

“It was a great experience to see highly intellectual individuals talk with young students from across Duval County about being a better person,” said junior Danzell Brown.

The students really had a great time and learned a lot from this seminar. But most of all, they learned how to be a better person all around.
