Sheree' Kearns, the facilities director of the Challenger Learning Center at
Kirby-Smith Middle, has been selected as a finalist for the Alan Shepard Technology in Education Award, awarded each year by the Astronauts Memorial Foundation in partnership with the Space Foundation and NASA.
The award recognizes outstanding contributions made by K-12 educators and district-level personnel in the field of educational technology. To be eligible to apply, Kearns had to demonstrate excellence in the development and delivery of school technology programs, as well as be nominated by her principal, June Marshall. She was one of the top entries in the country as judged by a panel of distinguished judges, and she received a certificate and letter from the Astronauts Memorial Foundation.
Kearns also recently had the opportunity to be the featured speaker for the opening of Hubble at the World Golf Hall of Fame IMAX Theater. She spoke about astronaut training and the importance of the Hubble space telescope.
