Students and staff at
Andrew Robinson Elementary recently hosted their annual Multicultural Day Festival for all to enjoy!
Organized by Media Specialist Nancy Rentz, the event provided students with the opportunity to gain an appreciation for and understanding of other cultures.
Each grade level drew a continent and then picked a country from that continent to study and present to the rest of their school. Art created by the students and objects from around the world decorated the hallways and classrooms.
In one classroom, students studied Fiji. As students from their school visited, the students in the class taught them about Fiji using Power point presentations and slide shows. They even had sugar cane for everyone to taste.
In another classroom studying India, students baked Indian bread and provided samples to the other students.
In the multi-purpose room, students were treated to a variety of performances by Latin American dancers. As theme music played, students were taught traditional Latin dances from Central America and Spain.
The dancers were brought to the school by ArtLife Productions. Founded by Karen Sadler in 1999, ArtLife designs and produces a wide range of interactive experiences in visual arts, dance, theater, music, film and literature for schools, business sponsors and community organizations.
