The Jacksonville Alliance of Black School Educators (JABSE) recently hosted its 2010 Urban Summit.
The theme for this year's summit was "Education is a Civil Right."
Dr. Julius Demps, Jacksonville University's assistant professor of management, was the keynote speaker. Dr. Demps delivered a powerful address which raised the question, Education is a Civil Right: So What's Next?
Educators, parents, and students were able to have critical dialogue about bridging the gaps in education that result in increasing student achievement.
Participants took part in various workshops that focused on improving student achievement, motivating students and encouraging parents to take a keen interest in their children's education.
This year's summit was sponsored by Holly's Bar B Que.
