Mattie V. Rutherford Students Receive Messages of Hope and Inspiration

The entire student body of Mattie V. Rutherford Alternative Center recently gathered for an inspiring message delivered by Mr. Anthony Butler, executive director of the E3 Business Group.

Mr. Butler’s presentation, entitled “Accuse Yourself of Success: 5 Steps to Improved Academic and Personal Achievement for Students of all ages,” is designed to support and motivate students in their personal and school lives.

He spoke to the group about self-improvement through the development of goals and objectives.

“Regardless of where you are right now, it is up to you to accuse yourself of success,” said Mr. Butler. “You are the key to creating success within your life.”

While his presentation started off with a list of the difficulties he faced growing up in Baltimore, Maryland, it ended with success and triumph. Mr. Butler went from seeing his first dead body at the young age of five, to working for President Ronald Reagan.

After the moving presentation, Mr. Butler shocked the school’s principal, Mr. Arvin Johnson, and the students when he committed to becoming a school volunteer, offering 10 hours of his service to the school on a monthly basis.

“I have volunteered myself for two hours a week as a show of my commitment to the students of Mattie V. Rutherford,” said Mr. Butler. “These students have been labeled, some unfairly, and I think it is important that they have as many positive voices in their lives as possible.”

E3 Business Group, Inc. is a national, nonprofit organization whose mission is to enhance entrepreneurs with the mindsets, skills and processes which allow them to become leaders of successful businesses; supporting their efforts to affect change within their communities and lives.

Mattie V. Rutherford’s presentation was sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida.
