Arlington Heights Elementary art teacher Moises Ramos has received a prestigious recognition: the 2010 Arts Educator Award from the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville.
The award honors art educators in Jacksonville whose commitment to art education goes beyond the school walls.
Ramos has not only been an art teacher at Arlington Heights for the past seven years, but has also pledged his help and artistic talents to other community organizations, including the Lutheran Social Services' summer program for refugee children; the Cathedral Arts Project; and for donating art supplies to Wolfson Children's Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House.
Ramos received the award at the 34th Cultural Council Arts Awards luncheon, held at The Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts.
The Cultural Council advances the appreciation and expression of art and culture by increasing community awareness of cultural activities and issues. For more information, visit
