This school year,
Arlington Elementary was adopted by the Arlington United Methodist Church, and one of the things the church staff donated with their time and efforts was a garden for the school.
Their donation included the soil and vegetation seedlings, as well as the and hard work of planting, watering and weeding.
The students of the month get to reap the benefits of a great harvest, along with faculty and staff. So far, the garden has harvested radish, lettuce, collard greens, green beans, broccoli, zucchini, spices, herbs and cucumbers, and is now awaiting bell peppers, eggplants, tomatoes and strawberries.
“The students here at Arlington have been given the opportunity to experience nature at its best,” said Instructional Coach Sheriece McWilliams. “Thanks to the close community connection of Arlington United Methodist Church, this has been a once in a lifetime lessons for all our students.”
