A. Philip Randolph Student Advances to National SkillsUSA Competition

Last month, Eric Parody, an 11th-grade student at A. Philip Randolph Academies of Technology, received a first-place award in Plumbing during the 2010 Florida SkillsUSA Skills and Leadership Conference.

With a win at the state level, Eric has advanced to the 46th annual National Leadership and Skills Conference being held June 20–25, in Kansas City, Missouri.

The SkillsUSA championship is a showcase for the best career and technical students in the nation. The multi-million dollar event occupies a space equivalent to 16 football fields. In 2009, there were more than 5,400 contestants in 91 separate events. Nearly 1,500 judges and contest organizers from labor and management will make the national event possible.

Congratulations to Eric and best wishes at nationals!
